Organized in 1949 with Margaret Mattocks as its founding President, Seattle Co-Arts was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1950. Seattle Co-Arts was founded primarily to encourage creativity and develop originality in dedicated artists.
In 1988, Seattle Co-Arts honored its founding President by voting to award annual art scholarships to deserving student artists who are currently engaged in furthering their art education towards a career.
